A challenge for parents, family and friends

Today Year 5 were challenged to think of the longest word they could that was made up of letters which have at least one line of reflective symmetry. They were allowed to use capitals or lower case versions or the letters or a mixture.

Sam came up with a mammoth 13 letter word- Quadrilateral.

Now, in the font above, some of the letters do not have reflective symmetry but they do if written in certain way.

Can you beat 13 letters?

Yes, Mr P, I can!

The longest word with lateral symmetry I have found in the dictionary is: uncommunicATIve (15 letters).

Also the longest horizonal symmetry word, found on the internet, is COCCIDIOCIDE (12 letters).
